The climate change is the biggest challenge of our time. This piece is part of a collection of four carpets, depicting the changes of Vartasglaciären, a glacier in northern Sweden. The carpets demonstrate, based on photos taken over a 35-year long process, how rapidly the ice and snow are melting. The carpet was created using digital jacquard techniques, and surrounding the images of the glacier is the traditional folk-art pattern “monk’s belt”. Agnes Eriksson completed her bachelor’s degree in textiles at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design in 2020.
